hello,

Thanks for taking the time to find me. My name is Belinda Smith and until recently I was a coach working and living in the beautiful city of Winchester.

For over 20 years, I helped my clients pan out from their busy and often highly immersive work lives to give them the space and opportunity to gain perspective and clarity.

Now, I continue to offer the Retreat Space for time to think and reflect, a vital skill in our busy world.

why grace?

I started Grace Coaching after hearing a sermon in my local church.  It was about the grace of giving as a result of receiving.  It was all about excelling, uniquely – not in a comparative way – in everything; not settling for the pass mark, making every effort with the skills and talents we have been given, and helping others to do the same.  That sounded inspirational and demanded a response from me.  It was one of those precious moments when everything seemed to fall into place.  It is now something I think about every day.  ‘Grace’  reminds me all the time about what I love doing and how I meet with others so that they too can excel.

my background

I started my career in a wide range of HR roles with BAA in London and Total in Aberdeen.  In 2003 after 6 years as a freelance HR consultant, I became a Director of Waverley Learning, a Leadership Development consultancy where I led the  coaching practice until 2014. For ten years after that I worked as an independent coach, although I often teamed up with other coaches, particularly to work on team coaching assignments. I’m often asked why I became a coach, or even what was my route to it.  Early on I realised that people found it easy to talk to me, and whilst I was working in HR actually what people enjoyed was telling me their story.  And that’s what I still find to be so valuable; as I worked beside people they found out what’s most important to them and together we found a way of helping them to live that out.

It’s 2025 and I have started a new chapter in my own life, focusing on writing. Appreciating the power of pausing I still offer the Retreat Space as a place to stop a while, and reflect. If you’d like me to listen for an hour while you think out loud, please do ask. Truly being listened to is a wonderful gift.
